About the Course

Course goal: To increase learners’ awareness of the potential for dropped objects offshore, and to outline the responsibilities of personnel and actions to be taken to prevent dropped object incidents occurring. This course is based on the Dropped Object Prevention Scheme (DROPS) and industry best practice.

Learning Objectives

LO1 Define what is meant by a ‘dropped object’

LO2 Identify the common causes of dropped objects and their consequences and explain the importance of eliminating, or reducing the risk of, incidents occurring

LO3 Identify the duties of employers and employees in eliminating dropped object incidents

LO4 Identify areas with a high potential for injury to personnel should a dropped object incident occur

LO5 Identify examples of bad practice

LO6 Describe the measures that should be taken to control the risk of falling objects
